MARKTEC Corporation
Ryoden Shonan Electronics Corporation
Announcement of Business Partnership Agreement
We are pleased to announce that MARKTEC Corporation (Head office: Ota-ku, Tokyo; president & CEO: Hideyuki Matsukawa; hereafter “MARKTEC”) has signed a partnership agreement with Ryoden Shonan Electronics Corporation (Head office: Kamakura city, Kanagawa prefecture; president:: Kanji Shimomura; hereafter “Ryoden Shonan”) under which MARKTEC will market and sell the general-purpose ultrasonic flaw detectors and automatic ultrasonic flaw detector system products manufactured by Ryoden Shonan for overseas markets.
MARKTEC, with its main businesses of nondestructive testing and marking, is a integrated manufacturer and global supplier to various industries, under its philosophy of “Provioding Security and Safety to Society through Quality Assurance”. Especially in nondestructive testing, MARKTEC offers high-quality testing materials and systems for surface flaw testing including liquid-penetrant, magnetic-particle, and eddy-current tests. To meet customers’ various requirements for flaw testing, the company has been keen to form an alliance with a strategic business partner for systems for detecting internal defects in raw material stocks.
As a fully-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Ryoden Shonan is a comprehensive manufacturer of electronic products and systems. The company is involved in a wide range of businesses including inspection/measurement, communications, and transportation systems, including developing cutting-edge technologies, manufacturing, and providing technical support for various tests. Ryoden Shonan is one of the leading manufacturers in Japan of ultrasonic flaw detection systems for iron and steel applications. Based on its solid track record in the areas of automotive components, railroad, and nonferrous products, the company now wishes to expand into overseas markets.
In view of each other’s circumstances, the two companies have decided to join forces as strategic partners to complement each other’s strengths in the business of ultrasonic flaw detectors for overseas markets, and have therefore signed a partnership agreement. Once a detailed agreement has been drawn up, the general-purpose ultrasonic flaw detectors and the automatic ultrasonic flaw detection system products manufactured by Ryoden Shonan will be marketed and sold through MARKTEC’s overseas sales network. In addition, these systems will partially be local-sourced, with after-sales service being provided via MARKTEC’s overseas subsidiary factories, in order to manufacture more competitive ultrasonic flaw detection systems.
MARKTEC and Ryoden Shonan expect that this agreement will enable both companies to expand their business.
